The Municipality of Murcia, Negros Occidental, enacted Ordinance No. 440, Series of 2025, known as the Public Cemetery Code, to regulate the use and management of the Murcia New Public Cemetery in Barangay Caliban. The ordinance outlines zoning for tombs, a columbarium, and public areas, prohibits private tombs, and enforces burial, exhumation, and maintenance guidelines.
It assigns the Local Economic Enterprise and Public Utility Office (LEEPU) to oversee records, permits, and operations, and mandates proper fees, cleanliness, and environmental care. Violations such as vandalism, unauthorized construction, and littering are penalized accordingly.
